Note: The silver marking system in Mexico was replaced by a new letter/number marking system to indicate the silversmith and the guaranteed sterling standard. The first letter indicates location; those most commonly seen are T, M, G and C. The T is for Taxco; others are M for Mexico City, G for Guadalajara, etc. The second letter indicates the first initial of the last name of the silversmith, The number indicates where on the list the silversmith is listed in his/her city's assay office. TD-25 represents that the silver piece was made in Taxco by a silversmith with the last name that begins with the letter D, and he/she is listed in the City's assay office as the 25th silversmith with the last name beginning with the letter.
