Oil on board floral painting by Texas artist.

A beautiful and rather unusual floral painting in oil on board by Texas artist Betty Jean Goodnight (1930-2023). The painting is signed in the lower right hand corner and dated 2003. The painting shows a group of white peonies freshly cut and placed in a coffee pot painted with a Pennsylvania motif showing a rooster, flowers, and the saying “coffee maketh bright”. The flowers are sitting on a weaved lawn chair that is sitting in front of a wooden privacy fence. Good use of color with lots of detail suggests that Mrs Goodnight was a skilled artist if not very well known. I love the colors in this painting and it is nicely framed in a painted wood frame that helps to highlight the aqua blues in the work. The painting and frame are in very good plus condition. Framed the painting measures 22.5 by 28.5 inches. The art measures 18 by 24 inches. This original work is not heavy.
