This Andean textile called Mesa quepe or mastana is used by the Paqos as a tool for a ceremony called despacho, Pago a la Pachamama ( pay to Mother Earth). The mesa quepe is essential because all the items are set on it. This Cloth was woven in the community of Huacawasi, located in the mountains north of Calca (Sacred Valley) - Cusco. This mastana has geometrical designs. These textiles are used traditionally as altar cloths for one's "mesa" (or shamanic altar) or as a surface for doing coca leaf divination. However, they are also lovely and unique for use in home decor, table coverings, or collections. This textile will be an excellent addition to your collection. This mastana is in good condition( like new) with no holes or snags.
