This exquisite and rare Doucai Bowl was acquired recently by a private collector, and exhibits steep curved sides resting atop a circular straight foot, the interior with many circular medallions of gold marking throughout, featuring a flaming dragon amongst foliate scrolls, the exterior with further four similar medallions between two frieze head bands at the foot and mouth rim, all finely enameled in brilliant colors of blues, yellow on a gorgeous, crackled beige background, the base with a six-character hallmark in underglaze-blue.
My research is leading me to what I believe was created by A.R.H. Mann, who was a world-renowned collector of fine antiquities.
