The Arthur Rackham Fairy Book excellent preowned condition.
Arthur Rackham (1867-1939), English illustrator, was renowned in his time, so much so that his illustrations stand alone without even the accompanying tales in such books as "Rackham's Fairy Tale Illustrations in Full Color," selected and edited by Jeff A. Menges. During his life, Rackham illustrated a potpourri, in color and monotone, of famous stories and tales, and even illustrated some works by American authors such as Nathaniel Hawthorne and Edgar Allen Poe. In the case of Hawthorne's Wonder Book, he also contributed some part-coloured block images similar in style to Meiji era Japanese woodblocks. Anyone who views his illustrations cannot doubt he was a genius.
