This is a Murano glass paperweight by Alessandro Mandruzzato. The style is known as "Sommerso," which is Italian for "submerged" and refers to a technique where different layers of colored glass are cased in a final layer of clear glass. The paperweight is a teardrop shape with faceted cuts, which is a signature element of Mandruzzato's work. The Mandruzzato family, founded by Benjamin Mandruzzato in 1934, is well-known for its geometric, faceted glass designs.
